PŪRe Delicious: Peach Crisp

Peach Crisp

*This is a recipe from Stephanie at All Recipes

So, my son LOVES this recipe. I used to make a different peach dessert, a crisp versus a crumble. Yes, there is a difference! The original difference between the two lay in the topping: crisps would contain oats and crumbles would not. I found this recipe by “Stephanie” on AllRecipes not so long ago and haven’t gone back.

A couple of things that I would like to note about any peach dessert recipe. I usually spray on a bit of fresh lemon to keep them from turning brown. When you do that, the peaches might have a bit more bite, you can always sprinkle a little sugar of your choice.

Always make sure your peaches are RIPE. Otherwise, they are harder and can be a little bitter versus the beautiful sweetness of a ripe peach. And really, you need to buy home grown Ontario peaches! They DO make a difference!

On a final note, this takes longer than 15 minutes to prepare unless you’re a speed peeler lol! So put aside more like 30 minutes. And I always add ¼ to ½ more of the crumble mixture to make it really scrumptious.

Enjoy!

Ingredients: (Original recipe yields 8 servings so you may have to adjust based on how much you need)

4 cups sliced fresh peaches

½ cup all-purpose flour (there are lots of healthier flours to choose from whole wheat, almond, oat, etc. Just make sure you look up if there’s a difference in the amount of flour used depending on the type if you are swapping out) * See below

½ cup brown sugar

½ cup cold butter

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup rolled oats
